  • You are probably asking yourself why a website about nerds has articles on health and nutrition.  A vital part of sustaining positive mental health is staying physically fit, having a strong understanding of nutrition, and keeping stress low.  The better your physical condition, the more productive and mentally efficient you will be.  One of the most effective ways to keep stress low and maintain healthy circulation is massage. It would be nice if we could let the things that cause us daily stress slide off our back like the rain, unfortunately most of us are not able to do this.  Work meetings, distractive bosses, irritated clients, disgruntled employees, cuts to benefits, higher taxes, lay-offs, and many more factors contribute to our daily […]

Yesterday I had the marvelous opportunity to visit the Harry Potter Exhibition at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle, WA. Prior to entering the exhibit we wandered around the Science Center enjoying some of the sights, sounds, and tactile sensations. In fact all of the senses were stimulated which summons forth memories of visiting this place as a child and the great joy it brought me. One of the highlights of our pre-Exhibition wanderlust included a sphere representing our planet created by NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). • My home IT infrastructure has suffered a streak of bad luck. After upgrading the graphic card in my desktop, the power supply was subsequently sucked dry and failed. My large-screen laptop has developed the loose AC adapter connection so common in PC laptops (why didn’t they solve this weak design years ago?). My PS2 console stopped working around the time the PS3 was coming out, no small coincidence. As a student, I can’t afford a high wattage power supply for the desktop, and I don’t own a soldering iron to fix the laptop. I’m down to my “couch computer,” a Dell X1 Netbook. I have some free time, as school is on break, and I want to do some gaming. […]

There was the coveted Red Set with the Players Handbook and Dungeon Masters Guide. They seemed intimidating at the time, but now I think back and laugh at how short they were compared to most RPG rulebooks. We also received what I truly believe got us involved in role-playing games to begin with- a set of polyhedron dice. Completely alien to us, these dice were like little treasures that required diligent safeguarding.  Strange shapes and of all different colors, this was what caused us to pull up […]
