  • For some Sci-Fi fans, the Stargate series was the greatest of all the Sci-Space dramas. Captivating us for more than 10 years, the Stargate franchise had it all, and behind all of it,  was Joseph Mallozzi, (born October 16, 1965 in Canada) A well known writer and producer.  Most noted for his contributions to the Stargate SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis, and Stargate Universe television series.  Working together with partner Paul Mullie, Joseph spent 11 years as writer and executive producer for all three series. NERD TREK had the great honor and distinction to conduct the following interview with Joseph Mallozzi.   Q. Joseph, How did you first become involved with the Stargate series as a writer/producer? A. • The first time I held the original D&D Red Box in my hands I was 8 years old. My friend Khidr had received the Dungeons & Dragons Red Box as a gift from his Aunt and Uncle. It came with the Players Handbook and Dungeon Masters Guide. Those rule books seemed intimidating at the time, but now I think back and laugh at how simple they were compared to most. We also received what truly got us involved in role-playing games, a set of polyhedron dice. Completely alien to us, these dice were like little treasures that required diligent safekeeping.  Strange shapes in a myriad of colors, this was what caused us to pull up chairs to what would become […]

  • Spycam Car Key Fob Camera This is the coolest spy gadget I have ever used.  This tiny keychain fob (what the heck does “fob” mean?) poses as an automatic door unlock/panic for a car.  In actuality it is a tiny albeit powerful camera capable of snapping photographs at 640 x 480 resolution and recording video in AVI format.  I figured the photos and video I got with this little device would be blurry and useless in real world spying practices. I took the camera out on a couple secret missions and compiled a plethora of photographs and video files.  When I arrived at my home base I plugged the device into my computer and downloaded the files from the 4 […]

  • The name Goldeneye 007 summons memories of my college days, living in a party house and spending our time playing video games instead of studying.  We would gather with our individually earmarked 6-packs and bulky N64 controllers to battle it out in multi-player. My strategy was always the same.  Load up on proximity mines, litter the level with them, then hide somewhere and snipe any players who happened to make it through my ridiculous minefield.  I would laugh maniacally while the others exploded in bursts of flame and curtains of blood poured across their screens time and time again.  I actually recall one particularly heated game where a roommate physically attacked me because he enraged with my usage of proximity […]

  • This high powered little projector has blown my mind!  It’s tiny, portable, and has all the power of its bloated predecessors. We used it to host an impromptu gaming party at our house.  Pinning a white sheet up on the wall and projecting an Xbox 360 via the GP2 we were able to run two video games at once in my living room.  While a few people played 007 Goldeneye Reloaded on the projector, the other group played Halo Reach on the TV. We were quite impressed with the crisp and clear image from the projector, especially since we were using a sheet as a projector screen!  The GP2 projects in full 720p HD. • What do a magazine rack and key hanger have in common?  Organization! I have always been somewhat OCD about organizing things.  I blame my compulsions on my mother (visualize Martha Stewart if she was nice).  When I was a child I would always lose or misplace things.  My mother taught me the art of organization and from that point forward I have been somewhat insane about everything having “its place” in my home. Now I’m married with children and life can get a little crazy.  The control I once had over the organizational structure of my home has crumbled like a house of cards.  My wife is always losing her keys or her phone and the kids… well let’s just […]
