  • Today, I want to introduce all of you to a truly hidden gem of the 3.5 era, one that still ranks among my favorite anthologies and which you actually might now know about. Now some of you may know the name Morten Braten from necromancer Games’ excellent “Ancient Kingdoms: Mesopotamia“-book. What most of you won’t know is that he, more or less all by himself, released an anthology/setting-book breathing the spirit of Robert E. Howard, Clark Ashton Smith etc. – all contained in Xoth Publishing’s   The Spider God’s Bride & Other Tales of Sword and Sorcery This adventure-anthology for 3.X is 200 pages long, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial/ToC, 1 page appendix for references and bibliography, 1 […]

Essentially it is a what-if scenario of vast ambitions: What would happen if a logical fantasy setting, with all its consequences, with its magic etc., was thrust upon our technological world. Not a black/white dichotomy, nor a stylized version of fantasy. The […]

However, since Indie movies became the “in thing”, the loose term has become something of a genre style that many filmmakers, and even the big production companies, want to get in on. Here is a list of some of the biggest Indie film clichés that seem to crop up again and again. • Dinosaur Art – The World’s Greatest Paleoart Edited by Steve White Titan Books Dinosaurs have officially been with us for about 200 years, with our understanding of the ways they lived and how they looked developing rapidly over that time. An essential part of that development is taking the many pieces of paleontological jigsaw that digs present to us and using them to form a useful, informative and forward thinking picture of dinosaur life, but without the help of actual knowledge. This may seem an improbably and impossible task, but the skill and imagination demonstrated by paleoartists over the same 200 years have helped change and improve our understanding immeasurably. “Dinosaur Art- The World’s Greatest Paleoart” is an awe-inspiring collection […]

When this arrived on my porch I immediately wondered how much assembly would be required.  I’m not a big fan of “buy this, then you get to build it!”  I would rather if I pay full price for something that it come pre-assembled, but obviously for shipping reasons this wouldn’t be very prudent as things get broken in transit.  We pulled all the bits out and began to assemble the fan without reading the instructions, because what man reads instructions?  It took a little longer to assemble than I would have liked, but after a couple attempted […]

Thus, it should come as no surprise that I backed a trilogy that depicted horror from a  source that is rather rarely seen in gaming: Very dark, Japanese horror in the style of the old stories, blended with a significant touch of Ravenloft. Jonathan McAnulty and Michael K. Tumey have created an adventure trilogy as an introduction to these dark lands. Now, with a kickstarter for the whole setting, I figured it would be prudent to introduce as many people as possible to these neat modules. Thus, […]
