A Dungeons & Dragons documentary about the people behind the scenes

The Great Kingdom documentary is the first true-life story, from the family’s perspective, of the creators of Dungeons & Dragons. It is a heart-wrenching adventure of the rise and fall of Gary Gygax, Dave Arneson and the people behind the creation of the epic role-playing game, Dungeons & Dragons.

2014 marks the 40th anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons. Not only does D&D still thrive today, but it has deep roots in current online social media like Facebook and the multi-billion dollar video game industry.

Chris Haifley, Andrew Pascal, and James Sprattley began filming The Great Kingdom a year ago from private funding, mostly friends and family. The film is 70% finished. In order to complete the film they have posted a request for funding on Kickstarter to raise an additional $50k. This will be used solely for post-production; music, editing, color-timing, animation and mastering. In essence, all that is needed to complete this story about the men and women who helped Gary and Dave bring D&D to the world.
