  •   WOW! What an episode! What a twist! Right? RIGHT?! I did NOT see that coming AT ALL! WOW! Okay, so lets start at the beginning, shall we? In Storybooke, Ruby and Granny get into a tiff and Ruby quits the diner. As she’s waiting for the bus that will take her out of town (it totally would have crashed!), Mary Margaret and Emma happen upon her. We all know how fond Mary is of taking in strays, so she offers Ruby a place to stay. Ruby accepts. Emma gives her a job working at the sheriffs office (Henry suggestion that Ruby might want a job taking things to people in baskets is priceless!), and all is right in Ruby’s […]

  • Tonight we got the story of Grumpy….and WHAT a story it was! Once again, Lee Arenberg hit it out of the park with his brilliant performance. In Fairytale Land, we meet Nova, played by the amazing Amy Acker. Does the woman not age?!     And how Fred-like was Nova? I literally JUST finished watching Angel for the first time two weeks ago, so seeing Amy in this type of character again was almost bittersweet. As Nova is flying over the land, a bit of fairy dust–which we find out is made from diamonds that are mined by dwarfs– accidentally falls onto a giant egg. That egg hatches early and who’s inside? Why, a dwarf, of course! Didn’t you know dwarfs are […]

  •   I love me a good ghost story. I love to be scared. I mean, LOVE to be scared. I love the anticipation, I love build-up and I LOVE the reveal. And it seems like it’s been forever since we had a good old fashioned ghost story! Sure, we get a ton of blood and gore…but when was the last time you saw a real GHOST story? The Woman In Black fills that void nicely. Of course, it does have its flaws. It starts off VERY slowly. The first 50 minutes are a snore-fest. But after that, it’s a fun and jumpy ride! Daniel Radcliff does a decent job in his role as Arthur Kipps, a young lawyer who travels to a remote village […]

  •   I honestly have no idea what to say about this movie. It literally left me speechless….in a very, very not-good way. Basically? This movie was pompous and confusing. I get symbolism. I get imagery. But this? This was tripe. 40 minutes of muddled, fractured images that do nothing but make the viewer throw up their hands in frustration is one thing, but it you can even get through the first of those, the story that follows is also rubbish. The official summary is this- “The film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Brad Pitt). • When I was in school (many many moons ago) being called a nerd wasn’t exactly a positive thing and it had many so called negative connotations to it, including the fact that people taunted you for looking like this: Only – this man saved the universe. I’d like to introduce you to the original Dr. Daniel Jackson, a name as popular in the sci-fi universe as James Bond is to action. Played by James Spader in the 1994 movie, this man set a course in history that would last for sixteen years. I sometimes wonder if the original makers of the Stargate movie knew how popular the series would become, if they would’ve spend more time thinking about their actors, […]

I mean, I named my daughter ‘Belle’.  So THIS was the week I’ve been looking forward to since day one.  I’m so glad, it didn’t disappoint!   Written by the amazing Jane Espenson (Buffy, Torchwood, BSG), I knew this episode had to be a hit.   In Fairytale Land, we meet Belle, played wonderfully by Lost’s Emilie de Ravin.  Belle’s father’s kingdom is threatened by the Ogre wars, and Belle suggests they bring in Rumpelstiltskin to help.  Of course, when Rumpel helps, a price must be paid. This time his price is Belle…and thus Rump becomes our Beast in this tale.  Rumpel takes Belle to his castle and, of course, […]

I do understand baseball, and I AM a sports fan, so I do feel that I’m qualified to write a review about a sports movie. 😉 Moneyball is about Billy Beane, the General Manager of the struggling Oakland A’s. After losing his three top players, Beane, with the help of Ivy league graduate Peter Brand, develops a completely new way to build a ball team. Brad Pitt is great in the role of Beane, and his performance made the whole movie.  Jonah Hill as Brand is another story.  Don’t get me wrong. I’m a big Jonah fan. It just seems like he plays every part […]

It’s gritty, dark, depressing and graphic. I hope I don’t offend anyone when I say this is the perfect guy movie. That’s NOT to say women won’t enjoy it…I mean, I’M a woman and I liked it!…But it’s definitely NOT something most women would like. The Grey is about a bunch of oil riggers whose plane goes down in the Alaskan wilderness. And I’m not exaggerating when I say that anything that can go wrong, DOES go wrong. And, as 2011 version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was both in a way – my anxiety stretched unlimited. I hadn’t been surprised when Hollywood announced that they too were going to give the story a go. It was bound to happen, like Harry Potter or The Hunger Games, it seems that today our best books are celebrated by binding them in celluloid. As a whole, I don’t have a problem with this practice. It gives our largely visually based society a taste of what those of […]

The origin of this show is rather implausible for what is now a cult classic franchise in American television. Nikita’s beginnings start in 1990 in France, in , about a teenage junkie who participates in the robbery of a pharmacy owned by a friend’s parents. The robbery devolves into a gunfight with local police, during which her cohorts are killed. Suffering severe withdrawal symptoms, she murders a policeman. Nikita is arrested, tried, and convicted of murder and is sentenced to life in prison, where her death is faked, and […]
