  • Warning: This post contains major spoilers for the end of Mass Effect 3 and general plot lines. Do not read it if you don’t wish to be informed. I think it’s about time to try and gain some perspective on Mass Effect 3. I’ve been waiting for this game for almost a year, after I had obtained the second game from a second hand game store and flirting the attendant down to a fraction of the price. I don’t know what made me pick it up, I guess I just… liked the look of it. I’ve always been an RPG fan and have been anxiously looking for something to fill the void that the unsatisfactory Fall Out: New Vegas had […]

You can choose your own depending on your technical proficiency and preferences. 1. • You have to hand it to Bioware, they certainly know how to market a product. The month leading up to the release of the game was filled stunts, from psyching up that rumoured 18% of FemShep players to get #FemShepFriday trending in the US through twitter (and succeeding) to shooting copies of the game off into space. As if the fans needed any more motivation to buy it. We were treated to several trailers including the CGI trailer released with The Walking Dead, the launch trailer featuring broshep and even an unanticipated CGI FemShep trailer (which was the best of the lot in my opinion). Then, on the 5th of March in the time leading up to the midnight launch […]

Now, before I go further with this article (complaint), I just want to clarify that I play Dark Souls on Xbox. I don’t know how the PSN community is, but I’m sure they have their share of glorified miscreants as well. I just want to say that I love this game. •  Video games as art. I could go on and on about how modern games reflect society or how the gorgeous graphics that can rival the ancient masters of the canvas or, in addition, how the music score uses the best orchestral arrangements since Beethoven. All true, however, irrelevant to my salient point. Which is? Art is not complete until it meets the audience. That is to say, that any form of art is not complete until it is presented to an audience. It’s sort of like old adage ‘if there is nobody in the forest to hear the tree fall’, yadda, yadda, yadda. Sure, you can argue that a TV show or movie is complete when the final edit is done. But […]

This is after scores of fans had campaigned to Bioware, asking them to use ‘FemShep’ as she is fondly called in their marketing for the first game. Yet, the biggest reason I have decided to play is because my wife plays.  I know, I know.  Like Felicia Day says in ‘The Guild’, “I know, a chick gamer.”  And, yes, I DO think it’s hot.  So while I can’t convince my wife to play D&D or a myriad of other table-top RPGs, I can jump online with her and go stomping around collecting […]

You know the twists and turns, you might find an award (or kill) here or there that you missed the first time but generally, it’s all the same from beginning to end. Not so I have to say with the game Heavy Rain. Having purchased this game more almost a year ago, I surprised myself the other night by feeling the need to play it again. For the fourth time. Heavy Rain was released in 2010 by Quantic Dream. To my knowledge, it was only released to PS3, first […]

On the 6th of December 2010 Square Enix announced that they will be releasing a new title in the popular Tomb Raider franchise. Apparently, they had been working on this title since 2008 with developers Crystal Dynamics. It looks promising. This story takes us back to the time that Lara has just turned 21. If you’ve followed the original story lines, you’ll remember that this was the age the original game (or rather – let me say first game) had pin marked for Lara’s transformation […]

He spoke kindly to the lad but the boy balked and disappeared, only to reappear later as Shepard reached the Normandy… If you know how this scene ends, I don’t have to elaborate and if you don’t, I’m not going to spoil it […]
