  • The Manor #7 (OSR) The seventh installment of the OSR-‚zine „The Manor“ clocks in at 27 pages, 1 page front cover, 2 pages editorial/ToC/introduction, 1 page advertisement, leaving us with 24 pages of content, laid out in 6’’ by 9’’-booklet style.   The book sees the return of one of my favorite series from the early installments of the ‘zine, with Boltswitch’s Mobile Potion Emporium, penned by Boric Glanduum. The eponymous Boltswitch is basically a gnome snake-oil salesman, but one whose potions actually do something!  Granted, not necessarily what you *want* them to do, but Boltswitch seems to be pretty up front about minor…peculiarities. Adak’s essence of age, for example, seems to be duplicating haste, but for briefer periods…and it […]

  • Adventure Quarterly #7 The 7th installment of Rite Publishing’s quarterly magazine, their spiritual heir to Dungeon, if you will, clocks in at 63 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page ToC, 1 page SRD, 1 page advertisement, 1 page back cover, leaving us with 57 pages of content, so let’s take a look!   As always, this installment begins with a brief editorial by Robert N- Emerson before diving into the modules, but let’s take a look at the supplemental material first. Why? Because it is extremely useful: Steven D. Russell provides an article that helps structuring PC subplots in your campaign…and he has a 100-entry-strong table of Pre-Butt Kicking One Liners. This table is incredibly awesome: […]

  • 13th Age Monthly: 7 Icon Campaign (13th Age) This installment of 13th Age Monthly clocks in at 10 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial/SRD, leaving us with 8 pages of content, so let’s take a look!   So, 7 icons, hmm? Concept-wise, the following have been combined: Dwarf king and crusader (=Dwarf King), emperor and gold wyrm )=Golden One), archmage and priestess (=Hierophant), diabolist and lich king (=Queen of Hell), the three and prince of shadows (= The Three), elf queen and high druid (=The Wild Queen). The Orc lord is still just the orc lord – no combination there.   The new icons do come with new sample options – the servants of the Dwarf King may […]

  • Zeitgeist #7: Schism The 7th installment of the groundbreaking Zeitgeist AP clocks in at 95 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page ToC, 1 page SRD, 1 page back cover, for a massive 90 pages – so can this module stand up to the ridiculous high quality of its predecessors?   In order to find that out, this review will need to delve deep into SPOILER-territory – potential players should definitely jump to the conclusion. … .. . Still here? All right! The defense mechanisms and structure of the conspiracy the PCs face is nigh impenetrable – but thankfully, the stalwart constables of the RHC may finally have a chance to go deep undercover – the call […]
