  • This review was written by Jonathan Nerdtrek’s son Justice Danger.  Justice is 10 years old and loves playing both video games and tabletop games. Skylanders Giants is an awesome game. I love how you can use these giant skylanders that are way bigger than the regular skylanders. The abilities for the giants are awesome, you can just walk into crates and chompies and they will be destroyed or killed. They can also pick up huge boulders and throw them out of the way. Another thing the giants can do is, you know when you had to try to get a bomb and get it to the wall? Well, now you can just use any attack on it with a giant […]

  • The name Goldeneye 007 summons memories of my college days, living in a party house and spending our time playing video games instead of studying.  We would gather with our individually earmarked 6-packs and bulky N64 controllers to battle it out in multi-player. My strategy was always the same.  Load up on proximity mines, litter the level with them, then hide somewhere and snipe any players who happened to make it through my ridiculous minefield.  I would laugh maniacally while the others exploded in bursts of flame and curtains of blood poured across their screens time and time again.  I actually recall one particularly heated game where a roommate physically attacked me because he enraged with my usage of proximity […]

  • Skylanders is quite possibly the coolest video game for kids ever made.   The words “don’t judge a book by it’s cover” come to mind when I think about my initial reaction to the Skylanders video game.  It was right before PAX Prime 2011 that we found ourselves at an Activision party for press staff.  I was checking out all the newest Activision games hitting the market in the coming months.  While wandering wide eyed from console to console,  I glanced over and saw a table with what looked like some toys and a kids game.  “Lame”, I thought and continued on my way. A few months later a package arrived at NERD TREK from Activision with the Skylander’s Spyro’s Adventure, […]

  • Myself and several other NERDTREK Editors had the distinct pleasure of attending an industry event for Activision. We were wined and dined and got to see, play, and watch demos for several upcoming titles. The topic of this particular article is obviously Prototype 2. And, like the title says, it’s not just another sequel. Prototype 2 is turned up to 11 (that’s right kids, a Spinal Tap reference). If you are too young to get it, Netflix it and watch it. Anyway, back to my story, as I said Prototype 2 turns it up to 11 in every way possible to make a game better than the previous version. The graphics are better, even though this was a pre-alpha build […]
