  • NeoExodus Campaign Setting The revised and expanded version of the NeoExodus campaign setting clocks in at a massive 272 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 2 pages of ToC/KS-thanks and dedication, 1 page SRD, 1 page back cover, leaving us with 266 pages of content, so let’s take a look!   Before we begin this review, let me mention that this book is more than just an expansion of the material we knew from the previous iteration; while, obviously, there are similarities between the previous iteration of the setting and this one, it is pretty apparent from the get-go that the very scope of this book exceeds what we got to know about NeoExodus; for one, the organization […]

  • Southlands Bestiary This massive bestiary for use with the Southlands campaign setting (but not limited to it) clocks in at 122 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 2 pages of backer-lists, 1 page ToC, 1 page SRD, 2 3/4 pages of advertisement, 1 page back cover, leaving us with 112 1/4 pages of content, so let’s take a look!   I was a backer of the Southlands kickstarter, but am otherwise not involved with this book. My review is primarily based on the softcover print version of this book, though I consulted the electronic version to verify e.g. presence of bookmarks and similar components.   This book is pretty much a sans frills experience – the brief version […]

  • Laying Waste: The Guide to Critical Combat This massive tome clocks in at 168 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 2 pages of backer-list, 2 pages of ToC, 1 page SRD, 1 page advertisement, leaving us with 160 pages of content, so let’s take a look!   But before we do, full disclosure: After receiving the Beta-version of these rules and thoroughly enjoying them, I was asked to be a stretch-goal for this book and thus have contributed some content to this book. I do not consider my verdict in any way compromised by this, but felt obliged to mention it anyways. The archetypes I contributed are clearly discernible (since the book properly credits its guest authors – […]

  • Hej everybody here at NERD TREK! I figured for the second review here on the site, I’ll introduce those of you who don’t know about it to one of the sourcebooks/modules that defines for me what third party publishers are capable of and which, imho, is one of the best high-level modules for any iteration of d20-related systems, namely Rite Publishing’s    Coliseum Morpheuon The pdf is a whopping 127 pages long, 1 page front cover, 1 page back cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page SRD. That leaves us with 123 pages. A quick glance at the cover and interior shows you that CM is a full-color book, and a beautiful one at that – both the full-color artworks and […]
