  • Occult Archetypes II The second collection of Occult Archetypes released by Legendary Games clocks in at 36 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page inside of front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page introduction, 1 page ToC,4 pages of SRD, 1 page advertisement, 1 page back cover, leaving us with 25 pages of content, though it should be noted that, as always for Legendary Games, there’s a lot of content crammed into these pages.   We begin with the Alterationist alchemist archetype, who must be an aberration to qualify for the archetype. The archetype replaces the formulae component of alchemy with the ability to cast psychic spells drawn from the alchemist list as a mesmerist, using Int-mod as governing key […]

  • Everyman Minis: Haunted Archetypes This Everyman Mini clocks in at 7 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 3 pages of SRD, leaving us with 2 pages of content, so let’s take a look!   Okay, first things first: This builds on the FANTASTIC, extremely flavorful Everyman Minis: Haunt Invocations-pdf. If you don’t already own it: The humble little file basically presents an engine for PCs to make DIY-haunts! Yes, it’s as cool as it sounds and oozes flavor and potential left and right!   This pdf, then, would be the expansion: on the introductory page, we get the new Enhanced apparition feat, which requires the Phantasmal Invitation feat and the summon apparition invited haunt chosen from that engine. […]

  • Everyman Mini: Occult Singularity Ritual This Everyman Mini clocks in at 9 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page advertisement, 3.5 pages of SRD, leaving us with  2.5 pages of content, so let’s take a look!   So, this pdf depicts a new occult ritual, if the title and cover were not enough indication. I know, captain Obvious-Endzy is obvious. The ritual presented here is the Macabre Pledge of Occultic Singularity, which clocks in at 5th level and has the compulsion and evil descriptors. The ritual has a 5 hour casting time and its components are amazing and manage to generate the appropriate flair: 18 black candles, infused with the ash of those sacrificed to the cult’s […]

Back when I was a kid, neck deep in puberty, when I had an innocent crush on Rinoa from FF XIII, my AD&D campaign back then was winding down; we had reached the highest power echelons, left level 20 far behind, and I had, at best, a cursory knowledge of 3.X, but had […]

You do not accidentally trigger these haunts, but may remotely trigger them as a standard action while within 30 ft. of them and while the haunts can detect you. Invited haunts last for a number of hours equal to your CL or until […]

  • Everyman Minis: Mesmerist Feats This installment of the Everyman Minis-series clocks in at 8 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial/ToC, 1 page advertisement, 2.5 pages of SRD, leaving us with 2.5 pages of content, so let’s take a look!   After a brief introduction, we get two new spells:  Mindshock (2nd level) laces your attacks with psychic energy that adds +1d4 nonlethal damage due to pain; critical hits cause the target to be confused for 1 round, which is pretty strong, considering the absence of a save to negate. That being said, immunity to mind-affecting or pain effects or critical hits prevents the confusion. The spell has another caveat that makes it balanced for the spell level: A […]

My review is primarily based on the softcover print version of this book, though I consulted the electronic version to verify e.g. presence of bookmarks and similar components.   This book is pretty much a sans frills experience – the brief version […]

  • Hej everybody here at NERD TREK! I figured for the second review here on the site, I’ll introduce those of you who don’t know about it to one of the sourcebooks/modules that defines for me what third party publishers are capable of and which, imho, is one of the best high-level modules for any iteration of d20-related systems, namely Rite Publishing’s    Coliseum Morpheuon The pdf is a whopping 127 pages long, 1 page front cover, 1 page back cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page SRD. That leaves us with 123 pages. A quick glance at the cover and interior shows you that CM is a full-color book, and a beautiful one at that – both the full-color artworks and […]
