  • I’ll confess, if there’s something that doesn’t get old it’s survival games. I play games for the thrill and have always found myself migrating towards titles which not only stretches my imagination to the limits but also scares the word-which-rhymes-with-trap out of me. I was very excited when Naughty Dog and Sony announced their release of the game ‘The Last of Us’ at the Spike VGA’s. It’s definitively something to look forward to from the creators of UNCHARTED but the game is still a long way down the road. Closer to home is the release of AMY – another horror survival game which centres around the players character Lana needing to escourt an autistic girl called Amy through a hostile city filled […]

  • Video Games with the Best Replay Value There are games that no matter how old bring me back to play them time and time again. Each time I play I find new things that make them fresh and exciting. On the other side of things there are literally hundreds (if not thousands) of video games I have played part way through, quit, and never returned to because I just got bored or they were repetitive and I just lost interest. Most games don’t hold my attention long enough to become classics that I want to play again years later, so this list is very important to me as I will continue to replay these games for the rest of my […]

  • Is it better to have a game that while being short (6 to 8 hour campaign) totally blows me away?  Or is it better to have a game with a long (10 to 20 or more hour) campaign that is satisfying but not epic? It is a topic that I have been wrestling with for a very long time. To me, it’s almost dependent on the type of game that I’m involved with at the time.  Also, I would much rather have a company give me an experience I’m sure to remember rather than something I’ll likely forget in a week.  I mean, is bigger always better?  In certain avenues, yes – gun fights, for instance. But, is going to […]

  • …and why it’s addicting. For me it’s the feeling of accomplishment when you make a machine do something that it wasn’t built to do.  Some people like to take things apart and put them back together.  I like to softmod, whether it’s a Nintendo DS, old school Xbox, or a Wii- there’s something to be said about the feeling you get when you beat the system.  Play Super Mario World on my Wii?  No problem!  How about Goldeneye 007 on the Xbox?  Yeah!  Multiple player! With the internet it is so easy to find instructions on how to softmod almost anything you can imagine.  I’ve even found myself trying to turn my iPhone into an old school mac which is […]
