  • Larger than Life: Giants for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game This compilation of the Larger than Life-series (plus new pieces) clocks in at 78 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page SRD, 1 page back cover, leaving us with 74 pages of content, so let’s take a look, shall we?   Ah, the blessings of me being swamped in reviews. A couple of small installments are released and once I could get around to them, the big book’s already out there…yeah, I know. I’d love to be faster.   That aside, what we get within the pages of this book is not a simple monster book themed around giants – instead, this book should be considered a kind […]

  • The Genius Guide to Gruesome Giants This mini bestiary clocks in at 24 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page SRD, leaving us with 21 pages of content, so let’s take a look, shall we?   Giants aren’t subtle. They don’t lend themselves well to horror and so far, the undead templates released as “Gruesome” hit exactly that spot – so what is this about? Well essentially, it’s a book to spice up giants and make them as “OMG -GIANTS!!! RUN!!!!” as possible. This is achieved via templates, though we also receive sample statblocks for giants to drop in as written into a given campaign, so let’s go down through it, shall we? First of all: Shock […]

  • Mythic Monsters: Giants This installment of the Mythic Monsters-series clocks in at 30 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page blank inside front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page SRD, 1 page ToC, 2 pages of introduction/how-to use, 2 pages of advertisement, 1 page inside back cover, 1 page back cover, leaving us with 19 pages of content, so let’s take a look!     Okay, so this one has a problem – giants frankly suck in Pathfinder – their rock throwing is bad, they can be brought down by sleep and there are no rules for properly falling on PCs, squashing them – thankfully, this installment of Mythic Monsters addresses just these issues – hurling rocks at squares, squashing […]

  • Welcome to my very first miniatures review on NERD-TREK. In this ( hopefully ongoing) series, we will be taking a close look at gaming miniatures both past and present. Including interviews with manufacturers, sculptors, painters and fellow enthusiasts as well as product reviews and possible sneak peeks at some upcoming miniatures. In part one of this post, we’ll be covering some of the products from Center Stage Miniatures.  Which reminds me, I’d like to take a moment and personally thank Matthew Solarz at Center Stage for donating both their time as well as the minis that made this series possible.  But enough about me, on with the review….   It was several months ago that I was contacted by the […]
