Posted on September 20, 2017 | No CommentsYggdrasil Fanzine #1: Dark Magic This fanzine for Kobold Press‘ Midgard setting clocks in at 95 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 9 pages of advertisements (many of which are half-pages), 1 page SRD, leaving us with 83 pages of content, so let’s take a look! It should be noted that I usually don’t review free e-zines, but this was requested as a non-prioritized review by my patreons and, well, I listen to them. This book being FREE itself constitutes a definite plus for this book, so if something I tell you about strikes your fancy, please do check this out. After a brief introduction by both Wolfgang Baur and Morgan Boehringer, we begin with Curtis […] -
Southlands Bestiary
Posted on April 5, 2016 | No CommentsSouthlands Bestiary This massive bestiary for use with the Southlands campaign setting (but not limited to it) clocks in at 122 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 2 pages of backer-lists, 1 page ToC, 1 page SRD, 2 3/4 pages of advertisement, 1 page back cover, leaving us with 112 1/4 pages of content, so let’s take a look! This book is pretty much a sans frills experience – the brief version […] -

The first new piece of content would be the island Astiharha – shaped like an eye, with the portal of shadow in the middle, this exotic locale not only sports quarreling (shadow) fey, but also e.g. elemental creatures, a castle of sand that is modified daily and a truly odd bazaar – complete with settlement statblock. We also are introduced to the benevolent pixie rogue and his malevolent boogeyman foil, a powerful […] -
Dark Roads & Golden Hells – and Shadow Planes & Pocket Worlds
Posted on December 31, 2012 | No CommentsToday I’ll be taking a look at the planar source book of Open Design, Dark Roads and Golden Hells This pdf is 111 pages long, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page ToC, 1 page SRD and 1 page back cover, leaving a total of 106 pages of content, so let’s take a look! Disclaimer: I was a patron of this project, but didn’t contribute due to time-concerns. All right cutter, I see you’re rather clueless about them’s roads, so here’s the chant: The pdf kicks off with a rather interesting treatise on the nature of planes, making the outer planes essentially a foundation spawned from the soul essence of beings, entwined with an ever-swelling tide […]
