  • The Faerie Ring expands the fey options for both players and GMs using either Pathfinder Roleplaying Game or 5th Edition rules. It creates new opportunities for meddling where you probably shouldn’t and introduces new fey monsters. Among other things you will discover playable fey races and other character options such as fey big bads, patrons (or both!), along with spectacular fey cities, planes, and various other locales. This project aims to highlight the fey: to construct their mythos with the strong personalities of powerful fey lords, to build their mystery with extraplanar fey locales and adventures, and to shape their influence with fey character options. We’re updating and remastering the two existing PDF releases (“Prelude” and “Red Jack”) and incorporating […]

The events began tonight and continue through Sunday, running the gamut from LARPs to movie showings to card games and everything in between. Every staff member I’ve met thus far has been wonderfully helpful and they’ve really put together a top-notch crew for this year’s convention, held down at the waterfront in the spacious David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Later this week we’ll have more about the convention—a solid rundown of the video game tournaments, interviews with celebrity guests, and some of the story behind the formation of the magnificent 2014 gathering—but in doing the rounds today I found something that people need to know about immediately: TekkoShodown. • Hello folks! I swear, I have been toiling away on some brilliant material for AdventureAWeek.com  but there are always more designs to build, ideas to implement and opportunities within Pathfinder to innovate the ruleset. Liber Influxus Communis: the Book of Collective Influence is emblematic of that concept. Amora Game has collected some amazing designers (many already with their Paizo achievement badge and an RPG Superstar!) and (best of all, obviously), it’s got two major contributions from me. The project reached the funding goal in just under a week and there’s still a little time left to jump on board! I’m just going to talk about the two classes I’m responsible for, designs that have been brewing in my head for quite a […]

Characters appear; problems beset them; solutions are sought and struggles are endured; and events in the world unfold. At the end of the story, the original problem might have been solved, in a glorious victory. Or it might remain unsolved, in ambiguous stalemate or tragic defeat. But in either case, a story is a character who changes because of a problem.   In games, of course, the characters are the players, and they change by growing stronger or weaker in the course of play. For those of you who don’t know who Frank Mentzer is, he is most notably the co-author for one of the most famed and beloved of all D&D adventures – ‘The Temple of Elemental Evil.’  He and Gary Gygax wrote that back in 1985, and it […]
