  • Unchained Monk Archetypes This pdf clocks in at 26 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1.5 pages of SRD, leaving us with 22.5 pages of content, so let’s take a look!   Pathfinder Unchained has provided an intriguing array of options regarding variants of base classes, but, as often in a system this inter-dependent and connected, it should come as no surprise that the massive toolkit/modifications that are archetypes would result in some hiccups with these new options – so here we are: Archetypes, made available and functional with the Unchained Monk, so let’s take a look at how Carl Cramér’s take works!   The Drunken Master moves Drunken Ki up to 4th level, while drunken strength remains […]

This useful piece of information out of […]

  • Everyman Unchained: Monk Archetypes This first installment of the Everyman Unchained-series clocks in at 19 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page SRD, leaving us with 16 pages of content, so let’s take a look!   The Pathfinder Unchained book has taken some time to find traction among my players, but it’s slowly getting there – the modifications of the base classes make sense to me in quite a few ways. That being said, while I am not a fan of all changes and design-decisions utilized in the respective revamps of the base-classes, there is undoubtedly one fact that may prove to be somewhat unpleasant for some groups – quite a few of the extensive customization options […]

  • Prestige Archetypes: Shadow Monk This installment of the Prestige Archetype-series clocks in at 8 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page SRD, ~1/2 a page of editorial, leaving us with 5 1/2 pages of content, so let’s take a look!   First question – what are prestige archetypes? Well, they are essentially a breakdown of a regular PrC into a full-blown 20-level spanning class – so no, these classes don’t necessarily mean that you’ll have a universal archetype (wouldn’t have worked in this context, I think), instead providing a retooled playing experience so you don’t have to work your way up to the PrC via classes you don’t want to play. So that’s definitely a pro-side. On the con-side, *personally*, […]

  • Player’s Option: Ayutthayan Monk This installment of the player’s option-series introduces us to a variant monk class, the Ayutthayan Monk and clocks in at 13 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page credits -leaving 11 page of content. Yeah, my pdf weirdly has no SRD.   The Ayutthayan Monk gets d8, 4+Int skills per level, a completely custom list of weapon proficiencies, AC/CMD-bonus of +1 (scaling up to +5) when unarmed/unencumbered and even remaining when flat-footed and touch attacks. They have all good saves, 3/4 BAB-progression, scale bonus movement rate to up to 60 ft, increase unarmed damage to up to 2d10. ALl in all, quite similar to the regular monk, so where are the differences? Well, at 1st level, […]

Take for example elemental ki powers – these allow monks to harness an element for which the monk has an elemental fist-affinity. Now, by expending a point of ki, the monk learns to harness one ability from the list […]
