  • Into the Breeding Pits (Frostgrave) The second expansion to the cool wargaming/RPG-hybrid Frostgrave clocks in at 62 pages, minus 3 if you do not count editorial, etc., leaving us with59 pages of content.   This book was moved up in my review-queue due to me receiving a print copy of the book.   All right, let’s begin this review with a kind of template, the most unique modification to the wizard you may achieve while using this supplement. The dungeons below Frostgrave, the eponymous breeding pits, were the haunting ground of the beastcrafters…and their tradition can be experienced in a novel manner: Provided the wizard finds the right grimoire, he may attempt to brew the elixir of the beastcrafter via […]

  • Monster Classes: Pinnacle & Pit This installment of Dreamscarred Press’ Monster Classes-series clocks in at 13 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page SRD, 1 page of advertisement, leaving us with 9 pages of content, so let’s take a look!   So, what is this? In one sentence: It’s Dreamscarred press providing the Savage Species type of “Play monsters”-rules for  the context of the Pathfinder roleplaying game. The pdf does acknowledge that this series (or even, individual installments) may not be for everyone – the fact is that most modules are humanocentric and thus, playing monsters can wreck havoc with the assumptions of a given game…more so than players are liable to anyways.   Let’s not kid […]

  • Warrior Prestige Archetypes: Pit Fighter This pdf of the Warrior Prestige Archetype-series clocks in at 8 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial/introduction (explaining the base concept of the series), 1/2 a page SRD, leaving us with a 5.5 pages of content, so let’s take a look!   What are Prestige Archetypes? Well, I reviewed the whole first series, so here’s the tl;dr-version: They are prestige classes blended with one (or more) base-class(es) to result in a new, 20-level-class – much like you had modified the base class with an archetype. Get it? Yeah, not a hard concept to grasp, is it? Now personally, I use Prestige Classes with an emphasis on the PRESTIGE-component, archetypes more like a career […]

  • Demoncall Pit   This module clocks in at 35 pages, 1 page front cover, 2 pages editorial/SRD, leaving us with 32 pages of content, so let’s take a look!   This being an adventure-review, the following contains SPOILERS. Potential players should jump to the conclusion.   All right, still here? There we go! The Cellend family has been haunted by a prophecy most dread – according to the premonitions, one of their scions was destined to one day initiate a demonic apocalypse of “opening the worldwound”-level of catastrophe. Unlike many a stereotypical plot like this, though, the family took counter-measures -prohibiting careers as arcane casters, instead focusing on virtue, bringing forth paladins galore over the ages. Alas, as often, the […]
