  • Planar Races: Chaos – The Xaolings This racial supplement clocks in at 15 pages, 1 page front cover, 2 pages of SRD, leaving us with 12 pages of content, so let’s take a look, shall we?   So what are the Xaolings? If the name wasn’t ample clue – they’re beings infused with or sired by the essence of Limbo and its chosen caretakers, the Proteans. As such, their looks are extremely varied and the chaotic influx is also represented in the (thankfully present) age, height and weight-table with massive variances in maximum age. Nice! Beyond the usual takes on relationships with other races, the suggestions for looks here would be awesome – elves with slithering, serpentine shadows, slitted pupils […]

  • Panataxia The latest module by 4 Dollar Dungeons and heir to the SUPERB “Horn of Geryon” is a whopping 70 pages long, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page SRD, leaving us with 67 pages of content, so let’s take a look, shall we?   This being an adventure-review, the following contains SPOILERS. Potential players should jump to the conclusion.   All right, still here? Adrift in the vastness of the astral plane, there is a demi-plane…or a fraction of a planet. Or a sentient construct – whatever its nature may be, it’s called Panataxia, it’s shaped like a dodecahedron (a D12) and its layout may feel like an underground dungeon/cavern crawl, but it is so much more […]

  • I’m going to take a look at Alluria Publishing’s massive collection of unusual PC-races! It should be noted that all of the races herein also exist in a separate 4th edition version, which I’m not familiar with, though. It can be found here. This review is all about the Pathfinder iteration of these races.   Remarkable Races: Compendium of Unusual PC Races This massive pdf is 161 pages long, 1 page front cover, 1 blank page inside the front cover, 2 pages editorial, 1 page ToC,3 pages of indexes (vital for a book of this size), 1 page SRD and 1 page back cover, leaving 151 pages of content, so let’s take a look at each of the new races: […]

  • Hej everybody here at NERD TREK! I figured for the second review here on the site, I’ll introduce those of you who don’t know about it to one of the sourcebooks/modules that defines for me what third party publishers are capable of and which, imho, is one of the best high-level modules for any iteration of d20-related systems, namely Rite Publishing’s    Coliseum Morpheuon The pdf is a whopping 127 pages long, 1 page front cover, 1 page back cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page SRD. That leaves us with 123 pages. A quick glance at the cover and interior shows you that CM is a full-color book, and a beautiful one at that – both the full-color artworks and […]
