  •   I feel like a broken record, but once again ANOTHER brilliant episode! Sebastian Stan was the perfect Mad Hatter, wasn’t he? LOVED! So we begin where we left off last week, with Mary on the lam after escaping her cell. Henry is at the jail, waiting for Emma, who walks in with Gold. They discover Mary gone and Emma takes off in her bug to find her. While driving on the foggy road, Emma almost hits a fellow citizen of Storybrooke, who goes by the name Jefferson (and wasn’t that a wicked-awesome nod to Jefferson Airplane, who’s most famous song is ‘White Rabbit’!). It seems he’s twisted his ankle after diving into the ditch, and Emma offers him a […]

  •   Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which “Tributes” must fight with one another until one survivor remains. Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in […]

  •   WOW! What an episode! What a twist! Right? RIGHT?! I did NOT see that coming AT ALL! WOW! Okay, so lets start at the beginning, shall we? In Storybooke, Ruby and Granny get into a tiff and Ruby quits the diner. As she’s waiting for the bus that will take her out of town (it totally would have crashed!), Mary Margaret and Emma happen upon her. We all know how fond Mary is of taking in strays, so she offers Ruby a place to stay. Ruby accepts. Emma gives her a job working at the sheriffs office (Henry suggestion that Ruby might want a job taking things to people in baskets is priceless!), and all is right in Ruby’s […]

  • Tonight we got the story of Grumpy….and WHAT a story it was! Once again, Lee Arenberg hit it out of the park with his brilliant performance. In Fairytale Land, we meet Nova, played by the amazing Amy Acker. Does the woman not age?!     And how Fred-like was Nova? I literally JUST finished watching Angel for the first time two weeks ago, so seeing Amy in this type of character again was almost bittersweet. As Nova is flying over the land, a bit of fairy dust–which we find out is made from diamonds that are mined by dwarfs– accidentally falls onto a giant egg. That egg hatches early and who’s inside? Why, a dwarf, of course! Didn’t you know dwarfs are […]

  • It’s no secret that my favourite fairytale is Beauty and the Beast. I mean, I named my daughter ‘Belle’.  So THIS was the week I’ve been looking forward to since day one.  I’m so glad, it didn’t disappoint!   Written by the amazing Jane Espenson (Buffy, Torchwood, BSG), I knew this episode had to be a hit.   In Fairytale Land, we meet Belle, played wonderfully by Lost’s Emilie de Ravin.  Belle’s father’s kingdom is threatened by the Ogre wars, and Belle suggests they bring in Rumpelstiltskin to help.  Of course, when Rumpel helps, a price must be paid. This time his price is Belle…and thus Rump becomes our Beast in this tale.  Rumpel takes Belle to his castle and, of course, […]

  • You know when you finish a book and it’s so good…so perfect…that you just sit there in awe and stare at it? That was me when I finished Ready Player One. Written by Ernest Cline, Ready Player One is set in the very near future–the year 2044. The planet has become an ugly place. Most people live in trailer stacks (yes, that’s exactly what it sounds like), the fossil fuels have been almost completely used up and global warming has become a reality. Luckily, there is an oasis…Called OASIS. The internet has become everything we’ve dreamed it will be. OASIS is total virtual reality, where you interact with people and the world completely inside a huge, immersive game. The creator […]
