  • Desolation of the Black Terror (OSR) This hexcrawl covers 16 pages (not counting the front and back cover and their insides), with about ½ a page devoted to editorial and explaining how everything ties together, leaving us with 15.5 pages of content, so let’s take a look!   So, I am, in spite of sometimes having issues with parts of his work, someone who enjoys the type of material Geoffrey McKinney brings to the table. As such, I have already covered his self-published, first 4 Carcosa hexcrawls…and when they left me wanting more, I figured I could check out his Wilderness Hexcrawl-series as well.   First things first, in case you’re not familiar with these: As per the writing of […]

  • Yuletide Terror This massive Christmas mega-adventure clocks in at 119 pages, 1 page front cover, 2 pages of editorial, 1 page ToC, 6 pages of SRD, 2 pages of advertisement, leaving us with 107 pages of content, making this the single largest Christmas module I have ever read and played.   This review was moved up in my reviewing queue as a prioritized review at the request of my patreons.   Before we dive into the main meat, let us talk about a couple of peculiarities: One: The layout in full-color is gorgeous and sports a ribbon on the right side of the page, which denotes the act/part of the adventure you’re currently in. This makes navigation more convenient, so […]

  • 5E Mini-Dungeon: The Unreachable Terror (5e) This pdf clocks in at 2 pages and is a mini-dungeon. This means we get 2 pages content, including a solid map and all item/monster-stats hyperlinked and thus, absent from the pdf, with only deviations from the statblocks being noted for the GM. Unlike many 5E Mini-Dungeons, this one does not come with VTT-maps or player-friendly iterations, which is a bit of a bummer.   Since this product line’s goal is providing short diversions, side-quest dungeons etc., I will not expect mind-shattering revelations, massive plots or particularly smart or detailed depictions, instead tackling the line for what it is. Got that? Great!   This being an adventure-review, the following contains SPOILERS. Potential players may […]

  • The Reign of Terror The latest 4 Dollar Dungeon-module clocks in at 88 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page ToC, 1 page SRD, leaving us with a massive 84 pages, so let’s take a look!   But before we dive into the nit and grit of this module, I feel obliged to point out some peculiar facts of this book: For one, I provided basic advice for a minor crunch-component that is part of the supplemental information in this pdf. I was not involved in any other way with this book. Beyond that, this book follows the format established by 4 Dollar Dungeons – that means you’ll get A LOT of supplemental material herein – spells, […]

  • Mythic Minis: Feats of Terror This Mythic Mini clocks in at 3 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page SRD, 1 page content, so let’s take a look, shall we?   This time, we’re all about feats that inspire true dread, so let’s take a look!   -Dragonfear: Says it all – better, mythic rank-powered frightful presence for dragons. Make those knights run! Pity there’s no “Let non-mythic-guys-die-by-dragonfright”-caveat as seen in some books…   -Gory Finish (Mythic): Better, mythic version of the feat, allows you use it easier and use mythic power to spontaneously use it in conjunction with weapons that you have weapon focus in. Makes more sense as an option than the base feat. Neat!   -Intimidating Bane […]
