  • Vs. Stranger Stuff Season 2: Urban Legends of Crestview Hills – The Hanging Tree (VsM Engine) This supplement clocks in at 3 pages, 1 page front cover (including relevant text) and 1 page editorial/SRD, leaving us with slightly more than a page of content, so let’s take a look!   This review was moved up in my reviewing queue at the request of my patreon supporters as a prioritized review.   This is an installment of the “Urban Legends of Crestview Hills”-series of small pdfs that provide brief adventures and hooks for use with Vs. Stranger Stuff Season 2’s default setting of Crestview Hills, though adaption to another setting is simple enough.   It should be noted that the supplement […]

  • The Assassin: The Sanguinity Hot Technique Tree This expansion for the Assassin base class clocks in at 6 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page SRD, leaving us with 4 pages of content, so let’s take a look!   Assassins with the sanguinity tree gain the blood pool feature upon taking the first sanguinity technique. This pool begins play with 0 points, and has a maximum capacity of thrice the assassin’s class level. Whenever a creature within 60 ft. takes damage from an ongoing bleed effect, the assassin gains 1 blood point for each point of damage taken. This pool resets upon resting.   Unless I have miscounted, the pdf contains 15 different techniques, with 2 of them being passive: […]

  • 5E Mini-Dungeon: The Burning Tree of Coilltean Grove (5e) This pdf clocks in at 2 pages and is a mini-dungeon. This means we get 2 pages content, including a solid map and all item/monster-stats hyperlinked and thus, absent from the pdf, with only deviations from the statblocks being noted for the GM. Unlike most 5E Mini-Dungeons, this one does not come with VTT-maps or player-friendly iterations, which is a bit of a bummer.   Since this product line’s goal is providing short diversions, side-quest dungeons etc., I will not expect mind-shattering revelations, massive plots or particularly smart or detailed depictions, instead tackling the line for what it is. Got that? Great!   This being an adventure-review, the following contains SPOILERS. […]

  • Letters from the Flaming Crab: World Tree This installment of the impressive “Letters from the Flaming Crab”-series clocks in at 29 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page editorial, 2 pages of SRD, leaving us with 25 pages of content, so let’s take a look!   So, before you’re asking – this is not a straight rehash of the classic idea of the world tree as known from Norse myths and the like; instead, we have a contextualization of the idea within the reality of the game. Touched by the dryad Endainne, the oak that was to grow into the colossal tree featured herein would grow, however, to proportions only dwarfed by the cosmic tree of said myths – at […]

  • Crawthorne’s Catalog of Creatures: Skyfire Tree This installment of the Crawthorne’s Catalog of Creatures series clocks in at 5 pages – the front cover contains the header, creature artwork and the social media icons/homepage of misfit studios as well as some introductory text. The SRD takes up 1 1/3 pages and the editorial is in a sidebar – to get all the material you thus have to print out the cover with the icons and part of the SRD as well.   The skyfire tree spawns spontaneous from plants destroyed by lightning, resembling trunks, from which 3 toothy, quasi-humanoid heads grow. What could be nightmare fuel is a bit sabotaged by the artwork employed here. These things can launch 4d6 […]

  • Dawnguard is Skyrim’s first expansion.  It’s not just added stuff to bolster what we have, there is a lot of new content as well.  We’ll be able to join the Dawnguard or become a Vampire Lord.   Killing people as a Vampire Lord opens a new skill tree to level up.  The more Vampiric carnage you cause, the more you can upgrade your Vampire Lord abilities.  Some of the new powers include: Summoning Gargoyles, Turning into a cloud of Bats, Slowing Time, inflicting Instant Paralysis, and Flight (Although it looks like hovering.  I’m not yet sure if we can fly over Skyrim, especially because the developers have previously stated that they took away the Levitation spell because they didn’t want […]
