  • Tome of Beasts (5e) This gargantuan tome of monsters clocks in at a massive 433 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page inside of front cover, 2 pages of editorial/thanks, 2 pages of ToC, 1 page SRD, 2 pages of advertisement, leaving us with a mind-boggling 424 pages of content, so let’s take a look!   This review is based on the second version of the book and was moved up in my review queue at the request of numerous readers.   Well, wait…before we do, please bear with me as I embark on a little tangent. As I’m typing this, D&D 5e is a relatively young system, a phenomenon I like to call “B1BS” – Bland 1st Bestiary Syndrome. […]

And it should be noted that the items actually come with suggested abilities. The module can be played in a 4-hour slot, […]

I am writing this article since I was explicitly asked to by my readers. That being said, considering the sheer size of this book and my own involvement, I will not provide a point by point analysis of the content and also will refrain from adding a final […]

  • Deep Magic (13th Age) This conversion of Kobold Press’ Deep Magic book clocks in at 146 pages, 1 page front cover, 1 page inside of front cover, 1 page editorial, 1 page ToC, 1 page SRD (also containing some last pieces of advice), 1 page back cover, leaving us with 140 pages of content, so let’s take a look!   Wait, didn’t I already review Deep Magic? Wasn’t the book bigger? Well, yes – but you see, 13th Age’s magic system is sufficiently different from PFRPG’s to warrant a revisit and a wholly distinct review in this case. First of all, spells work in completely different ways in 13th Age. Secondly, the fact that they are much more closely tied […]

  • Advanced Races: Ravenfolk (Revised Edition)   FULL DISCLOSURE: I was hired to develop this pdf, iron out the rough patches and provide some new and exciting options herein. I was paid for my work. That being said, I was assured that I should not, in any way, compromise my final verdict for any product of Kobold Press and continue to provide my often harsh criticism. So yeah, I obviously consider the new iteration superior. I post this review mainly to update my review of the first Ravenfolk pdf and to draw attention to its improved version – not many publishers would aim to improve a given book by this extent. Kudos!   This installment of Kobold Press’ Advanced Races-series is […]

Idea-wise…but can the content stand up to the concept? Racial trait-wise, Huginn (or Heru/Heruti, as they are known in the South…) get +2 Dex and Wis, – 2 Con, 30 ft movement, low-light vision, +2 stealth and perception, +4 […]
